The Daily Announcements pertain to 5th-8th grades only.

 

Tuesday, December 11:

  • Attention all 7th and 8th graders.  "Hello Club" will be starting next week on December 19th.  If you are interested in the club, sign-up sheets will be hung up in the 7th and 8th grade hallways.  This club will help you make friends and meet new people. To find out more, contact Ashlee Edlen or Hannah Miles.  We hope to see you there!
  • Attention student council members, please come down to Mrs. Vaughn’s office following announcements today.

  • Today is Mix-It-Up day at lunch.  As you exit the lunch line please grab your number and find the corresponding table.  Have fun expanding your social boundaries! We are Warriors!

  • Congratulations to the GHMS Dance Team on placing second with their lyrical routine at their competition in Dunlap last Saturday.   

  • Outstanding performances by both the 7th and 8th grade boys teams last night as they traveled to Washington Central.  The 7th grade team got off to a quick start to take a nice lead. They never looked back and hung on to win a close one by 5.  In the 8th grade game the Warriors found themselves down big early in the game. Great teamwork and great defense brought the Warriors back to defeat the 13-1 Washington team.  The Warriors took the lead late in the game and in a thriller won by 3.

 

Monday, December 10:

  • Congratulations to Kate Krasin for the great job she did singing our National Anthem at the Girl’s State basketball tournament on Saturday morning.  Way to go, Kate!

  • CHESS CLUB!!!  SIGN-UPS FOR CHESS CLUB ARE OUTSIDE MR. BEVARD'S DOOR!!!!!  PRACTICES WILL BEGIN TOMORROW FROM 2:30-4:00 P.M. ;)

  • Congrats to the 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team on their showing at State on Saturday.  The Warriors had 2 hard fought games, winning against Teutopolis in the morning and falling just short against Quincy St. Peter in the evening.  The Warriors will play for 3rd Place on Thursday vs. Hillsboro at 6:00 here at GHMS.

 

Friday, December 7:

  • Congratulations to Mr. Scott, who has been named a P.E. Champion by the Illinois Public Health Institute for his dedication to helping all kids receive high-quality P.E.  Awesome job! Please give him a high-five today.
  • A local group is collecting new books for kids.  There is a wrapped box in the office if you would like to bring in a book donation.  Books will be collected until Monday, Dec 17th. Thanks!

  • Sign ups are underway for the 2019 Germantown Hills Floor Hockey League.  The floor hockey league is open to all 5th-8th graders who meet academic, behavioral and attendance requirements.  The regular season will begin January 8th and games will be played in the mornings before school starts. There is no cost.  Interested students may pick up a registration form in the office. The deadline to sign up is Friday, December 14th. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Mair.

  • Chess Club will begin on Tuesday, December 11th from 2:30 - 4:00 P.M.  Sign-ups are located outside Mr. Bevard's door.

  • Reminder:  All public displays of affection, including but not limited to hand-holding and kissing, are not allowed.  Any students participating in these activities will be disciplined for insubordination in accordance with the student handbook.

  • Also, we have our dance tonight from 6-8pm.  Come join the festive fun!

  • And finally, please come out and support the girls basketball team as they compete in the State Tournament here at Germantown tomorrow.  Game time is 10am. Go Warriors! Best dressed fan will receive a prize from Coach Davis!

  • 8th grade teachers, please bring your homerooms to the PDLC at this time.

 

Thursday, December 6:

  • Don’t forget our Winter Dance is tomorrow!
  • A local group is collecting new books for kids.  There is a wrapped box in the office if you would like to bring in a book donation.  Books will be collected until Monday, Dec 17th. Thanks!

  • Sign ups are underway for the 2019 Germantown Hills Floor Hockey League.  The floor hockey league is open to all 5th-8th graders who meet academic, behavioral and attendance requirements.  The regular season will begin January 8th and games will be played in the mornings before school starts.   • 8th Graders who sold at least TEN boxes of Fannie May - don’t forget your BIG event tomorrow during Activity Period!  Go to Mrs. Wilmarth’s lab for YOUR chance to score some CASH in the envelope pull! The more you sold, the more envelopes you pull.  Someone is going to leave with $100 or more! Top sellers will also receive their prize money at that time. Band members may stop by anytime on Friday so you don’t miss band.  

  • Back 2 Back…..The 8th Grade Warrior Girls Basketball Team took down Prairie Central Last night 50-15 and earning a trip back to State on Saturday. The Warriors jumped all over the Hawks from the tip.  Camryn Younquist had a season high 22 points and Katy Ramage had 7 assists in the Victory. The Warriors play at 10 am vs. Teutoplolis, a basketball powerhouse, here in the JDS Gym. We need all the fan support we can get.  Coach Davis will have a reward for the Best Dressed Fan on Saturday at State!

  • Good Luck to the 8th Grade Warrior Girls Basketball Team as they travel to Wenona tonight to take on Forrest Prairie Central in the Sectional Championship. The winner of this game will be playing at state on Saturday.

  • Attention Dance Committee Members! You have a committee meeting after school today till 3:30.

  • Congratulations to both the seventh and eighth grade boys basketball last night. Roanoke Benson Rockets came visitingm abd both the seventh and eighth grade sent them crashing!  Both teams one by 20+ points. A big thank you to all the fans who were in attendance.

  • A late Congrats to the 8th Grade Girls who won the extremely tough Eureka Regional last Friday!  The Lady Warriors play tomorrow night in Wenona for the Sectional Title and the opportunity to play at State on Saturday here at GHMS!  Go, Lady Warriors!
