Dance Team tryout information packets are still available in the office for anyone interested in joining the GHMS Dance Team.
8th graders with photos for Mrs. Wilmarth should go to her immediately after announcements. If you haven't brought your photos in yet, you need to call a parent. Mrs. Wilmarth MUST have those photos TODAY to be included in the graduation video.

Attention 8th graders! Your photos are due TOMORROW!! No photos-no video. Simple as that.
Attention all interested in trying out for the GHMS Dance Team - tryout information packets are in the office now. Stop by to pick one up.
Today's track meet has been cancelled due to the weather. Track members will have regular after-school practice instead.

Congratulations to our 8th grade volleyball team for making it to the final four in state play-offs! The team fought hard last night and finished in 4th place against a tough team. The team and coaches would like to thank everyone who came to the game to cheer for the girls. Your support was most appreciated!!

Tuesday, March 21:
Best of luck to the 8th grade girls volleyball team as they'll play their final match of the year tonight in the state tournament in Tolono! the Warriors will play Pana at 5:30 for the 3rd place title. Go, Warriors!
Track practice for this afternoon has been cancelled so that students may go to the volleyball game!

Monday, March 20:
Congratulations to our GHMS Scholastic Bowl Team who won ALL FOUR matches on Saturday to become the Tazwood Conference Champs! Mrs. Curtis would like to see the entire Scho-Bo team immediately after morning announcements. Way to go, Scho-Bo!!
Congratulations to the 8th grade volleyball team on their performance at state playoffs on Saturday! The Warriors were able to use strong serving and passing to beat Shelbyville 25-13 and 25-16 in round one. In the semi-finals, the girls came up short, falling to Quincy in three sets. Thank you to all who came to cheer for the team on Saturday. The team will play for 3rd place tomorrow night. We will have a fan bus if we get enough students. Listen for announcements later today. Go, Warriors!

Good luck to Mia Points who qualified for the Illinios YMCA State Championship meet in St. John, Indiana! She will compete in 5 events throughout the day! Just keep swimming, Mia!
We will begin selling bracelets for Ian Wallace today during lunchtime. They are $1 and all proceeds will go to the Wallace family.

Attention all 6th-8th grade band students - TOMORROW is your large group photo for the yearbook. Wear your black & white concert clothes TO SCHOOL so you're ready for photos first thing in the morning, and bring clothes to change into after photos.
The Post-Season run for the 8th grade volleyball team continues after the girls took down Havana in sectional play-offs last night! The Warriors got off to a slow start before rallying behind good passing and strong serving to win the 1st set 25-21. The Warriors took control of the 2nd set winning 25-6 to take the sectional title. The team will play Shelbyville in the 1st round of the state tournament on Saturday. The team would love to see a HUGE cheering section - please sign up for the fan bus and join the fun as our girls go for state! Go, Warriors!

Monday, March 13:
Attention 8th grade GIRLS! Today, all girls in BAND should go to Mrs. Wilmarth's room as soon as you are finished eating lunch. You are being recorded today. Tomorrow, all girls in CHORUS will record during lunch.
Attention Show Choir - rehearsals begin today. Eat lunch, then head to the chorus room.

Congratulations to BOTH Scholastic Bowl teams for winning their matches against Roanoke-Benson yesterday! The top scorers for the A Team were Brooke Barlow & Nadia Frieden, and for the B Team, Kyle Loring & Dominick Gaudio. Way to go, Scho-Bo!
Any girl track athlete who did NOT get a uniform yet, please stop by Mr. Vaughan's room today during Activity Period.
Attention 8th grade girls- due to PARCC testing schedule today, we will NOT be able to record your quotes for the graduation video. Listen for announcements next week. Mrs. Wilmarth will pull small groups all week during lunch & Activity Period.
Don't forget to support Child Abuse Awareness by donating $1 to buy a pinwheel! All pinwheels purchased will have your name on them, and will be placed out in the grass on school grounds later this month.

Congratulations to our own Anna Peplowski and Kaia Bridenbaugh who both qualified to swim the "short course" at STATE competition this weekend! Anna qualified in three individual events and two relays, and Kaia qualified in four individual events and two relays! Best of luck girls - just keep swimming!!

Wednesday, March 8:
PARCC testing continues today. Please remember to be extra quiet in the halls. Even if the junior high isn't testing, some intermediate students will be testing in our labs.
8th Grade Volleyball is REGIONAL CHAMPS!! They took down the top seeded defending state champions Washington Central in 3 exciting matches last night! The Central Trojans had no idea what they were in for when they entered Warrior territory thinking they were going to easily take down the Warriors. However, the Lady Warriors had other plans. Behind consistant serving and solid passing, the Warriors won their 1st set 25-20. The Trojans responded by winning the 2nd set 25-23, forcing a 3rd set. Down early in the 3rd and deciding set, the Warriors mounted a furious comeback! Behind strong net play including several stuff blocks, the Warriors took it with a 25-17 WIN! The team advances to Sectional play-offs on Monday, 6 pm at Washington Central. A HUGE thank you to all the students & faculty who came out to cheer for the Warriors! You made a big impact on the team, and we'll need you again on Monday. Go, Warriors!
Congratulations to the UNDEFEATED Scholastic Bowl A Team for winning their match against Dunlap Valley yesterday! The top scorer for the team was Brooke Barlow, and Carson Jones was the top scorer for the B Team.
Congratulations to Sam Ohl who qualified for and will be competing in the state wrestling tournament this weekend in Rockford, IL. Good luck, Sam!
Hey, students! March is national Child Abuse Prevention Awareness month, and the Metamora-Germantown Hills Jr. Woman's Club is trying to raise money for this cause. For every dollar raised, they will place a pinwheel on display outside on school grounds. The Student Council is helping them raise money, and will have a table out during lunch to accept donations. You can also give your teacher your donation. Let's help prevent child abuse in Central Illinois - help raise money to help victims.
Students - please be sure to check the "lost and found" table in the lobby before Friday. All items still on that table at the end of the day Friday will be donated to charity.

PARCC Testing begins today. 6th grades will be testing - do your BEST, kids! All students are reminded that being quiet in the halls is essential during testing time. Please do your part.

Attention K-2 Character Crew! You have a meeting TOMORROW morning at 7:15 in the library.
Attention all students - you MUST have headphones or ear buds for PARCC testing. It is YOUR responsibility to be sure you have a working set here at school! Don't be caught without!! Moms aren't psychic - they don't know your headphones or ear buds are lost or broken unless YOU TELL THEM!
Congratulations to the 8th grade volleyball team who WON their two games at regional play-offs on Saturday! The Warriors began the day with a win over Mossville. In their second game, the girls TOOK DOWN 1st place Chillicothe to avenge an early season loss to the Mustangs. The Warriors will now play for the regional CHAMPIONSHIP tomorrow night against Washington Central right HERE at HOME. Game time is 6 pm - the girls would LOVE to see a packed house to cheer them to victory!
