The Daily Announcements pertain to 5th-8th grades only.

Tuesday, January 22:

  • Anyone 6th, 7th or 8th grader  interested in auditioning for this year’s school play should stop by Mrs. Ballard’s room 224 to sign up. You cannot be on both the track team and in the school play. Auditions for the school play will be February 5th and 6th.
  • Good luck to all 3 volleyball teams who play at home tonight -vs- Riverview.  Game time is 4:15. Make plans to come out and support the Warriors!
  • Good luck tonight as the 7th grade basketball team plays in regional play action against their  rival Metamora Grade school. A 5:30 contest held in Eureka..go Warriors
  • MAP Make-Up testing will continue this week.  Please listen to announcements to be called to your test's make-up location & time.

 

Friday, January 18:

  • Congratulations to our 2nd Quarter Arrow Award winners! Please stick around after the Assembly for a quick picture with Mrs. Hensley and to get your tshirt. The Arrow Award is our outstanding character award given to students who have gone above and beyond to represent what it means to be Germantown Hills Warrior! These students are kind, respectful, and responsible. Our winners are: 5th Grade: Lily Oberle, Brianna Schroeder, Ryan Murray, Hailey Krager; 6th Grade: Cooper Girdler, Nora Johnson, Avery Grebner, Rachel Wallace; 7th Grade: Lane Weinman, Sadie Sheets, Emily Kraisin, Audrey Heil; and 8th Grade: Jordan Thomas, Josh Westercamp, Garrett Shoemaker, Madelyn Cooksey, and Jade Wagner!

  • It was a clean sweep on the volleyball court as the 6th ,7th, and 8th grade teams all won their matches last night -vs- Dunlap Middle.  The 7th and 8th grade teams won in two sets while the 6th grade team won in 3. The next home game for the teams in Tuesday.

  • Olivia Fites and Erin Bauman please go Mrs. Anderson’s room 238 immediately following this morning’s announcements.

  • The boys BB teams finished the regular season games last night as they traveled to Pontiac.  The 7th grade team found themselves in a hole being down 11 in the first half. After regrouping they played a terrific second half and came back to win by 4.  They finish 18-4. The 8th grade had a tall task in front of them as they took on a huge Pontiac team. Even though they took one on the chin, they played with Great Effort, tremendous energy and fought hard and we couldn’t be more proud of them.  They finish at 11-11. Both teams will now enter Regional play.

  • Madrigal Singers-We sing the National Anthem at the Rivermen game tonight!  Be there at 6:30.

 

Thursday, January 17:

  • Set your DVRs for WEEK News 25 for Friday @ 5:45 am to hear our very own Mrs. Keys, GHMS Grads Ian Wallace and Maddie Martin, as well as, Mrs. Cooper from MTHS promote their Metamora to St. Jude 80s Prom Fundraiser. Go to StJude80sProm.com for more info and tickets.
  • All 8th graders who have band or art today should go to the front of the line for lunch. You will meet with the Jostens representative at 11:15 in the PDLC. You should then come to band or art after your meeting.  All other 8th graders will meet with Jostens during Activity Period.

  • The theme of the volleyball matches last night was “Taking Care of Business” as both the 7th and 8th grade teams won their matches with Bartonville Monroe in two sets.  The 6th grade team gets to join the party tonight as all 3 teams will take on Dunlap Middle at home. Game time is 4:15. Make plans to come out and support the Warriors.

  • Congrats to the 7th grade Geo Bee winners! The following students will move on to the next round: Hannah Gibbs, Shealyn Terry, Olivia Taylor, Madeleine Campbell, Jacob Riemers 

 

Wednesday, January 16:

  • Attention all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are going out for Scholastic Bowl: The second phase of tryouts- Buzzer tryouts- from 2:30-3:30 this afternoon in Mrs. Anderson’s room. See Mrs. Anderson if you have any questions.
  • Reminder to all students:  You are not allowed to throw snow at recess.  Also, you need to stay on the blacktop if you are not wearing the proper attire:  boots, a coat, and gloves.

  • Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams who both won their matches last night -vs- Pekin Edison.  The 7th grade team dominated from start to finish in their victory while the 8th grade team showed a lot of fight in their come from behind 3 set victory.  Tonight both the 7th and 8th grade teams will play at home -vs- Bartonville Monroe. Game time is 4:15. Make plans to come out and support the Warriors.

  • Students, head to the JDS gym from PE/Health today. You do not need to change.  8th Grade you will all come to PE 1st Hour and 7th Grade you will all come to PE during 3rd Hour.

  • A big thank you and a fantastic job to everyone who was in attendance for 8th grade night at the boys BB game.  The crowd was awesome. Great performances by not only the basketball teams but also the Dance team, Cheer team and Pep Band.  Great excitement, great music and two hard fought battles.

  • Madrigals: we will have a short rehearsal today during lunch.  We will prepare for singing the National Anthem at the Rivermen game on Friday night

 

 

Tuesday, January 15:

  • All 8th graders that have band or art today should go to the front of the line for lunch. You will meet with MTHS Counselors at 11:15 in the PDLC. You should then come to band or art after they have met with you.
  • Attention all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in going out for Scholastic Bowl. The final written exam tryouts for Scholastic Bowl will be given from 2:30 - 3:00 after school today  in Mrs. Anderson’s room (Room 238). It is a 30 minute exam. Bring a pencil with you. The second phase of tryouts- Buzzer tryouts will be tomorrow (Wednesday) after school from 2:30- 3:30 in Mrs. Anderson’s room.

Monday, January 14:

  • Attention all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in going out for Scholastic Bowl. Written exam tryouts for Scholastic Bowl will be given tomorrow, Tuesday, January 15th in Mrs. Anderson’s room (Room 238). It is a 30 minute exam. You have the option of taking it before school or after school tomorrow.  If you opt to take it before school, doors will be only be open from 7am until 7:10 for you to enter the building. You must be here before 7:10. The after school option will be from 2:30 until 3:00. Bring a pencil with you. Please sign up for the time period you are planning on taking the exam outside Mrs. Anderson’s room. Buzzer tryouts will be Wednesday after school from 2:30- 3:30 in Mrs. Anderson’s room.
  • A big congratulations going out to your GHMS Cheer Team for their outstanding performance on Saturday at the IESA State Cheer Championships!  The Cheer Team finished 8th in the State! Great job girls!

  • Good luck tonight to the 7th/8th grade BB teams as they travel to Mackinaw tonight.

  • Chess Club reminder:  Don't forget to get your permission slips to me for the upcoming chess tournaments!
